Who we are:

A Local Club of Optimist International

Optimist International is a worldwide volunteer organization made up of more than 2,500 local Clubs whose Members work each day to make the future brighter by bringing out the best in children, in their communities, and in themselves. Established in 1976, the Sioux Valley Optimist Club has been operating in the Greater Sioux Falls, SD area actively and provides needed support both financially and with volunteer efforts to youth-centered projects and programs.

Our Mission:

By providing hope and positive vision, Optimists bring out the best in youth, our communities, and ourselves.

Our Vision:

Optimist International will be recognized worldwide as the premier volunteer organization that values all children and helps them develop to their full potential.

Our Purpose:

To develop optimism as a philosophy of life utilizing the tenets of the Optimist Creed; to promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs; to inspire respect for the law; to promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people; to aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of humankind, community life and the world.

The Optimist Creed

Written by Christian D. Larson in a 1912 publication, the Optimist Creed was adopted at the anthem for all Optimist Clubs throughout the organization. Members use this collection of beliefs as a personal challenge and inspiration to live happier and fuller lives.
