The Sioux Valley Optimist Club is proud to support a wide range of youth focused programs in our community. Our members can make the most out of their involvement by either volunteering their time and talents at club sanctioned and supported program's events or helping to make our fundraising projects a success.

Golfing for Kids Fundraiser

Raising Money for the Kids!
2024 marks the 9th Annual Golfing for Kids Tournament. The event will once again be held at the beautiful Spring Creek Golf Course (Harrisburg, SD) . The game features a 4-Person Scramble Format with special on hole games and pin prizes.

CHS Birthday Parties
Volunteer Opportunity 2x Per Month
Monthly birthday's at Children's Home Society is the club's flagship and longest running project. Twice each month, the SVOC hosts a birthday party for the residents at CHS. The club provides a gift for the kids celebrating a birthday in that month, provide cake and ice cream for the entire unit, and pitches in to celebrate. Celebration takes place during the afternoon on select dates and last only 30 minutes.

Super Bowl Pool Fundraiser
Raising Money for the Kids!
The Super Bowl Pool booklet fundraiser is one our favorite projects during the year. Booklets are sold for $20 each with payouts each quarter of the Super Bowl for the matching number.

OI Junior Golf - DMM District Qualifier
Central Valley Golf Course - Hartford, SD
The SVOC is proud help to promote and support the Hartford Area Optimist Club as they host our districts Optimist International Junior Golf Qualifier at Central Valley Golf Course. The event is open to all children ages 10-18 to play for a chance to qualify to play in July at the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship in Florida.

Monthly Group Volunteer Events or Individual Opportunities
Our club tries to schedule at least 1 other group volunteer event every month. We also get requests from non-profits and other programs in the community that may need volunteers to help at specific events. Keep an eye on the events calendar for updates and opportunities that come up!

Book Donations & Support
Childhood Health & Wellness Initiatives
Supporting childhood health and wellness is one of the pillars of Optimist International. The Sioux Valley Optimist Club partners with several authors and suppliers to provide books to the local children's hospitals and elementary schools. These aren't just ordinary books, but these also include activities and themes that address mental health, bullying, and challenges commonly experienced with chronic illness and how to deal with the "What ifs".
